OVERVIEW
Junior Orioles Cheer is a tryout based Sideline and Competition team for 4th-8th graders. We cheer Sideline for the AYS Tackle Football Season and compete in at least 3 local competitions including UCA Regionals. In preparation for Middle School and High School Cheer teams, this team will focus on Cheer fundamentals, team building skills, and promoting community spirit.
TRY-OUT REQUIREMENTS
In order to try-out for Junior Orioles Cheer, athletes must meet the following requirements:
1. Must be a 4th - 8th grader (based on the 2026-2027 school year)
2. Must attend the cheer tryouts on April 18th and April 25th.
3. Must commit to the travel requirement, as it is required for this team. Competitions can be in or around the Indianapolis Metropolitan area up to 50 miles. Transportation to and from the Competition is the responsibility of the parent or designated responsible adult.
TRYOUT CLINICS
These are free clinics where you can learn new skills, work on old ones and prepare for tryouts! Not required, but highly encouraged. All Tryout Clinics will be held at the AYS Indoor Training Facility.

PARENT MEETING
A virtual Parent Interest Meeting will be held on Thursday, April 9th at 6pm. A Zoom link will be emailed to parents of athletes registered for Tryouts the week of the meeting.
TRYOUTS
Please note that interested athletes must attend both tryout sessions.
Tryouts will be held at AYS Indoor Training Facility, 8109 Kingston St. Suite 100, Avon. There is no fee to tryout, but registration is required.

PRACTICES AND GAMES
Practices will be held 2 nights a week. Games will be held on Saturdays (as scheduled by the AYS Youth Tackle Football program).
The competition schedule will be finalized on or around August 1st.

COSTThere is no charge to try-out. Following tryouts, offers will be sent via email. Initial acceptance fee of $155 (includes registration and competition fee) will be collected with an accepted offer.
A cost packet with Uniform Pricing and Required Items will be discussed during the Parent Interest Meeting. Payment Plan options will also be available.
FUNDRAISING
We understand the costs associated with this team are higher than those for the Rec. Cheer program. In order to assist with the cost of uniforms, competitions, and associated fees, there will be fundraising opportunities provided to each member of the team to assist with offsetting costs. Details will be made available once the team is selected.
