Little League Spring Baseball

MISSION
This program is designed to give players the opportunity to learn the fundamentals of the sport, develop already established skills, learn about teamwork and the way to handle the ups and downs of winning and losing, and how to work hard to achieve a goal!

AGE DIVISIONS

 
Age Eligibility:
Co-Ed Tee Ball: 4-5 year olds: (Tee/Coach pitch, including 6 year olds that have never played before)
Rookies: 6-7 year olds: (all Coach pitch, including 8 year olds that have never played before)
AA: 8-9 year olds (Intro to Player pitch)
AAA: 9-10 year olds (Player pitch)
Majors: 11-12 year olds (Player pitch)
Juniors/Seniors: 13-16 year olds (Player pitch)
*Please be advised that 6 year old TeeBall players, 8 year old Rookies players and 10 year old AA players may play up to the next league if they prefer. 


SEASON TIMELINE
The Spring baseball season plans to start the beginning of April for ALL AJAA Leagues (Tee Ball through Juniors/Seniors). The season will wrap up around mid-June.

Tentative Schedule:
January 6:
Registration opens with Early Bird Pricing (pricing good through Jan. 31). Thank you for registering early!
February 1: Registration still available (additional charge applies)
February 27: Registration closes (March 15th for Jrs/Srs league)
March 5: Mandatory Coaches Meeting (All Head Coaches & Assistant Coaches) 4pm-6pm @ Cedar Elementary Gymnasium
March 12: Evaluations for Rookies, AA, AAA & Majors Divisions at the Avon High School Fieldhouse.
2:30pm - AA Division
4:00pm - Rookies Division (Last name starts with A-K)
5:00pm - Rookies Division (Last name starts with L-Z)
6:15pm - AAA & Majors Divisions
*Please make every effort for your athlete to attend evaluations. Please arrive 20 minutes prior to your scheduled time to allow for the check in process. (The Co-Ed Tee Ball Division does not have evaluations). *
March 15: Registration ends for Juniors/Seniors Division. Evaluations for Juniors/Seniors Division at 6:30pm at the Avon High School Fieldhouse*

April 2: Field Clean-Up Day 12-4pm @ AJAA Fields
April 3: Practices begin.

June 16: Possible All-Star Games

Rookies: $125.00*
AA, AAA & Majors: $145.00*

Coed Tee Ball: $96.00
Rookies: $150.00
AA, AAA & Majors: $174.00

REGISTRATION
Registration will open January 6, 2023. Register by January 31, 2023, to receive early bird pricing. Registration will close on February 27, 2023.

PLEASE NOTE: If your athlete is considering playing AJAA Baseball but is waiting to see if they make a school team, please go ahead and register them so they have a spot. If they make a school team, per our Refund Policy we will issue a full refund.


PRACTICES AND GAMES
All league schedules vary. Each league will have two or three events per week (games and/or practices). Games may be scheduled in the evenings, but they are usually on Saturdays. If games are scheduled during the week, we will be mindful of school schedules.

Practices and games are held at the AJAA Fields, located at 866 S. County Road 625 E., Avon.

GEAR REQUIRED
AJAA will provide players with uniform shirts and hats. Players are asked to purchase gray baseball pants, a fielding glove, a bat, and a batting helmet. Cleats and a protective cup are encouraged (non-metal), but not mandatory.

Participants are required to use a USA bat. Juniors/Seniors League participants can use either a USA bat or BBCOR approved bat. For Juniors/Seniors bat regulations, click HERE.

AJAA Baseball is not able to operate without volunteers. Please consider volunteering as a League Coordinator, Head Coach, Assistant Coach, or as a member of the Baseball Committee! To begin the volunteer application process, login to your AJAA account (or register for a new account), click on the "Volunteer tab," click on "Find Volunteer Roles," select "View Divisions" under the program that you are interested in volunteering for!

Participant Eligibility Requirements

Players will be eligible to play Spring Little League Baseball if they reside, or the physical location of the school where they attend classes, is within the following boundaries (Physical map prevails, but here are the approximate boundaries):

  • South of 300 N.
  • West of Raceway Rd.
  • East of 300/425 E. (roughly)
  • North of 300 S.

For 2023 Little League Spring Baseball, participants are required to use a USA bat.

Juniors/Seniors League participants can use either a USA bat or BBCOR approved bat.

UMPIRES NEEDED

AJAA is currently looking for umpires for its Baseball and Softball programs. Interested individuals must be at least 13 years of age. Adults are welcome, too. 

Prior experience is not required, as AJAA offers all required training.
Criminal Background Check is required for adults 18 and over. Two letters of recommendation are required for minors under the age of 18.

Pay is based on experience.
