Cheerleading Program overview

The AJAA Cheerleading program is designed for children going into grades K-6 for recreational cheer.  Cheerleaders cheer for our rec Fall Football players.

Our programs goals are to teach the future cheerleaders of Avon basics such as motions, jumps, and some stunting, depending on their grade. We also hope to instill a feeling of accomplishment, team spirit, and good sportsmanship, along with giving the athletes a fun season.

Cheerleaders in Kindergarten through 6th grade for the 2020-21 school year.

Practices start: July 13th, 2020 @ Cedar Elementary from 6-7pm & continues every Monday.
Mandatory Conditioning Practice starts: July 16th, 2020 @ 6-7pm & continues every other Thursday
Games start: August 15th, 2020
Regular Season ends early October


All-star cheerleading is only offered to 2020 Rec Cheer participants.

Kindergarten through 6th grade registration and uniform fee: $110
Unfortunately, due to the COVID-19 Pandemic we will NOT be purchasing new uniforms.
The Uniform this year will be a Shirt/Shorts combo with poms and a bow.

Parent Meeting & Cheer Camp Kickoff : June 25th, 2020 from 6-8pm. 
Location: Avon United Methodist Church - outside pavillion.
*Please wear tennis shoes & bring a water bottle. 
*Parent meeting will begin at 6pm

April 1st - June 5th 2020 Registration
**Payment plans will be available.  PLEASE be sure to understand payment due dates.  If there are outstanding balances prior to first games, that could affect cheerleader's ability to cheer in games.
Once squads are rostered and posted, families will use the Team Manager App to see practice and game info. AJAA does not guarantee requests for cheerleaders to cheer for a specific team or requests to be on a specific squad/with other cheerleaders. 

K-2nd Grade group practices for cheerleaders are generally once per week. 3rd Grade - 6th grade group practices for cheerleaders are generally once to two times per week.  Days and times are at the commissioner's discretion. 

Conditioning Days are mandatory & happen once every other week. 

Practices will be at the field in front of Cedar Elementary.

Currently looking for an indoor option- If you have any ideas please contact your commissioner.

Games are typically on Saturdays  & there might be one game during the week. All games are held at Avon Middle School North.

Majors cheer squads will rotate turns & cheer at Home games for Jr. Orioles. There may be times you will have two games on Saturday. Please plan accordingly. 

Cheerleaders will buy the required uniform when they register for this season. They will also receive a bow & their own set of pom poms.  Other gear recommendations would be (but not required) are: White shoes, black leggings, AJAA Cheer club jacket

AJAA Cheer is not able to operate without volunteers.  We appreciate your support and your commitment to volunteer as a League Coordinator, Head Coach or Assistant Coach.

Volunteer Coaches are needed for every league, every team.  Please consider registering as a coach when registering your child.  

Head Coaches are asked to attend a coaches meeting before the season starts.  More details on that to come.
