OVERVIEW:
The AJAA Cheerleading program is designed for children going into grades Kindergarten - 6th and is a Rec. program. Cheerleaders cheer for our Rec. Fall Football players. Our programs goals are to teach the future cheerleaders of Avon basics such as motions, jumps, and some stunting, depending on their grade. We also hope to instill a feeling of accomplishment, team spirit, and good sportsmanship.
AGE DIVISIONS:
This program is offered to children in Kindergarten through 6th grade. Cheerleaders will be assigned teams based on their current grade for the 2023-24 school year, and will be divided into KG-2nd, 3rd & 4th, 5th & 6th divisions.
Please note: There may be some differences based on volunteers, siblings playing football or siblings cheering together. AJAA strives to put ages together, however, sometimes there can be a small deviation from the age divisions when necessary. This is approved on a case-by-case basis.

*2023 AJAA Family Fee of $50 is charged once per year, per household. Please note that registration requests after May 31st will not be able to be granted due to the scheduled uniform fittings and the turnaround time of uniform ordering.

Registration is available April 7 - May 31. Be sure you register by April 30th to receive the Early Bird Pricing! The discount will auto-apply at the time of checkout.
**AJAA does not guarantee requests for cheerleaders to cheer for a specific team or requests to be on a specific squad/with other cheerleaders.

COACHES CAMP

PARENT MEETING & CHEER CAMP KICKOFF
A Parent Meeting will be held during the uniform fitting on Tuesday, May 16, 2023 from 6:00pm - 7:00pm. Cheer Camp will be on Monday, June 26, 2023 from 6:00pm-8:00pm at Cedar Elementary.
PRACTICES BEGIN
Practices are tentatively scheduled for Mondays from 6:00pm-7:00pm, and will begin on Monday, July 10, 2023.
STUNT CLINICS
Stunt Clinics will be required for 3rd-6th graders and will be held on July 13 and July 21, 2023 from 6:00pm-7:00pm at Cedar Elementary.
END OF SEASON CHEER BANQUET
The Cheer Banquet will be held on October 2, 2023 from 6:00pm-7:30pm at the Cedar Elementary Cafeteria.
PRACTICES AND GAMES:
Practices are held once a week with the exception of Majors (grades 3-6). Girls in the Majors Division will need to attend one stunt clinic in order to stunt during the season. Once teams are decided, the coaches will be able to update their days and times for practice if they choose to do so. Games are frequently on Saturdays however there can be an occasional weeknight game.
Cheer squads will rotate turns & cheer at home games for the Jr. Orioles. There may be times when you will have two games on a Saturday. Please plan accordingly. The practice location is TBD.
GEAR REQUIRED:
Cheerleaders will buy the required uniform when they register for the season if they do not have one from the previous season. Other gear that the participant will be required to purchase includes white cheer shoes and black briefs.
