Avon Junior Athletic Association (AJAA) has been providing youth sports programs since 1963. Each year, AJAA provides recreational youth programs to over 3,500 athletes making us the largest sports program in Hendricks County. Our nonprofit organization has continued to expand to meet the needs of the ever-growing Avon community and we hope to continue to foster that growth. While still recovering from the unique challenges of the past few years, our focus continues to be on providing exceptional youth development to our community athletes.

At AJAA, we are proud to offer 22 different sport programs including Baseball, Football, Basketball, Running, Softball, Volleyball, and Cheerleading. Sports are a great way to benefit our youth by aiding in their physical health, mental wellness, and overall cognitive development. By providing the opportunity for our youth to be physically active, we reduce the risk of many health concerns such as cancer, obesity, diabetes, depression, and anxiety. A 2021 Survey by Utah State University reported 1 in 4 children suffered mental health decline when sports were unable to operate. Physical activity, and sports in particular, can positively affect aspects of personal development among youth such as self-esteem, goal setting, and leadership skills. It also benefits them by providing an alternative to peer pressure and delinquent behaviors and a way to release bottled up emotions.

As with any other organization, growth comes with new commitments and larger responsibilities. From organizing and running leagues to maintaining our facilities, a tremendous amount of work goes into coordinating our sports programs.

AJAA prides itself on continuing to focus on keeping our registration fees as affordable as possible. Even with the increasing price of field supplies, gas, rental spaces, and other operating economic expenses, AJAA has not raised our fees for over 5 years.
