OVERVIEW:
AYS Rec. Cheer is a program designed for Avon children going into grades Kindergarten - 6th in the Fall. Our program goals are to teach the future cheerleaders of Avon basics, such as chants, motions, jumps, and age-appropriate stunting. We also hope to instill a feeling of accomplishment, team spirit, and good sportsmanship. Our Kindergarten - 6th grade Fall cheerleaders will cheer for AYS Rec. Football teams throughout their Fall season. The season will consist of weekly practices beginning in July and cheering at assigned games every week beginning in August (times will vary) through early October. There may be additional opportunities for performances during the season, including Avon High School Football games.
AGE DIVISIONS:
This program is offered to children in KG - 6th grade (based on the 2026-2027 school year). Cheerleaders are guaranteed a spot and will be assigned teams based on their grade level and will be divided into divisions (KG-3rd and 4th-6th grade).
AYS also offers a try-out based Cheer program called Junior Orioles Cheer. This program is offered to 4th - 8th graders and involves travel and a greater financial commitment. If your athlete is interested in trying out for Junior Orioles Cheer, please refer to the Junior Orioles Cheer webpage.
PRACTICES AND GAMES:
Practices will be indoors and will be held once a week on Mondays or Wednesdays, depending on the age division. They will start the week of July 13th. Games will start in August and are generally on Saturdays, however, there can be occasional weeknight games.

Early Bird Pricing - Register April 3, 2020 - April 20, 2026:

Regular Pricing - Register April 20, 2026 - May 22, 2026:
$105 + Uniform Items (if needed)
*Please note that registration requests after May 22, 2026, will not be able to be granted due to the scheduled uniform fittings and the turnaround time of uniform ordering (unless the athlete already has a uniform that fits).
IMPORTANT DATES:
New athletes or athletes requiring new uniform pieces should attend one of the following uniform fittings:
Monday, May 11: 7PM - 8PM
Location: Avon Middle School North main gym
Wednesday, May 27: 6PM - 8PM
Location: Maple Elementary School gym
GEAR REQUIRED:
Cheerleaders will buy the required uniform when they register for the season if they do not have one from the previous season. Participants will be required to purchase white cheer shoes and black briefs. These items can be ordered through Amazon (search “white cheer shoe” or “black cheer briefs”) or any sporting goods store. Briefs just need to be black and are the same style as biker shorts and Nike Pros. They do not have to be a specific brand. Cheer shoes just need to be white. Based on availability, there will be an opportunity to buy used items from other parents. A link will be emailed to registrants when this document is available and before the uniform order is submitted. Examples of the needed items are below:
